The Final of the Sean Kelly Memorial Tournament was a tense affair with eventual winners Larry Byrne & Jim Knittle overcoming Frank Dennehy & Katherine Doyle 6-7., 6-3, 6-4. The match, on a knife edge for the first set, looked to be going the way of the mixed pairing when Larry failed to hold his serve and allowed the set to go to a tie break. Frank and Katherine held their nerve best to take it 7-5. In the next two sets Jim served much more effectively and despite a couple of break backs Frank & Katherine could not hold on to the stronger lads who took the remaining sets 6-3, 6-4.
Stephanie presented the beautiful prizes in the Clubhouse afterwards and congratulated everyone on a fine tournament.

Our gallant Ladies team went down to a very strong Naas Ladies team in the Div 7 Final last Sunday. Kay & Irene kept their unbeaten record with a fine 6-3, 6-4 win while Martina and Caroline fought valently only to lose in three sets 1-6, 6-2, 3-6. The Match came down to the struggle on Court 8 where Jacinta and Helen were hauled back after winning the first set 6-2 only to be pipped 4-6, 5-7 in the end by two excellent young players from Naas. Though massively disappointed the Ladies were fantastic on the day and represented the club proudly. A large contingent of supporters from Arklow were in attendance and the Templeogue club proved to be a superb venue. Thanks also to the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council who run the league. There were 14 finals on Sunday. The next event is the Summer League starting on 8th May in which we will have one Ladies and one Gents Team. Home matches are played in Charlesland, Greystones.
